I have gained proficiency in a wide variety of areas through my many degrees, as well as natural curiosity. If you see it listed in my profile, I assure you I am proficient in that area. A generalist I may be, but I am highly qualified in any area I work in.
Ages I tutor:
I have worked with as young as pre-kindergarten, all the way to old age. I accept all ages of students.
I have extensive tutoring experience, stretching back ten years, in a wide variety of subjects, and have even tutored students who speak a foreign language (I speak both Spanish and Chinese, the latter of which not well, but enough to cobble together some assistance for the student).
Working with those with disabilities:
I also have a great deal of experience working with students with disabilities, particularly autism, but also auditory processing disorder, dysgraphia, and other learning disabilities. More than that, I have extensive experience assisting people with depression and anxiety with their academics. Often, simply having someone to support them can make the difference between sinking and swimming for someone dealing with those disorders, and I assist such students with compassion and understanding.
ALL THE SUBJECTS I HAVE EXPLICITLY TUTORED
Middle school science and civics
Planning, study skills, and organization (one student with ADHD, one with anxiety/depression)
High school biology
Mandarin Chinese I
And probably a lot more I can't think of at the moment - I've been tutoring for 9 years now, so that's a lot of students!
MY TEST SCORES
I look forward to working with you!
MY TUTORING POLICIES
Please tell me if you can't make a meeting. I also meet students in public places, whenever possible, out of respect for safety concerns.
HobbiesI like to read, both fiction and non-fiction alike. My friends call me a sponge, because I soak up any knowledge I'm exposed to, not just academic. If you want to know why a super-computer was able to beat a grandmaster at chess, what fruitarianism is, or how to escape a sinking helicopter, I'm your girl.
I am also very service oriented: I make websites to help groups who normally go unserved (those on the autism spectrum and children of divorced parents, for example) and help lead an online adult autistic support group.
