V. P.
Private tutor in Tallahassee, FL
Education
Mathematician and Math-Educator, 65 years old. Alma-mater: The University of California, Berkeley.
Experience
I have successfully taught Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, College Math. I have published books on Algebra. I have written original research published in peer-reviewed journals of mathematics. I have made presentations intended for high school math teachers at annual conventions of the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I love teaching mathematics and I'm mainly interested in helping well-motivated students build a solid foundation in rigorous mathematics who truly aspire to excel through understanding (as opposed to through imitation or drilling), and who plan to pursue advanced studies in mathematics, computer science, hard sciences or engineering. I'm definitely not interested in students whose sole desire is to get good grades; good grades should be considered as the natural side-effect of good understanding. Two or three students with the same level of competence and enthusiasm for mathematics will be charged the same rate.
