Ryan L.
Private tutor in Tallahassee, FL
Education
I am a junior at Florida State University and am majoring in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Law and Society. I plan to attend law school.
Experience
I'm a very well rounded academic and generally tutor using Socratic principles: I ask questions and allow my student to come to the answer by means of his own train of thought, making for more memorable learning. Depending on the subject, I am also very adept at facilitating memorization. I scored a 1960 on my SAT, earning a near perfect score in writing. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and have been employed by many friends, though most frequently by my brother. I have served as At-Large Senator in the Student Senate, Executive Director of Sustainability, chair of the Sustainability Commission, and the Secretary of Saints for Sustainability at Santa Fe College. At the University of Florida I was a member of the Fightin’ Gator Marching Band where I played the Sousaphone and marched halftime shows at a National Championship and a Sugar Bowl. I’m a member of the UF BΞ Chapter of TBΣ, Honorary Band Fraternity, where I served as Alumni Correspondence Secretary and Ways and Means Officer. Last summer I interned for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson as a Constituent Liaison. Also, I was granted a fellowship with the Obama Administration and Organizing For America wherein I directed the fight for healthcare reform in Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie County.
